Julian McMahon portrays the charming, handsome and often promiscuous plastic surgeon Dr. Christian Troy on nip/tuck. He and his best friend and business partner Dr. Sean McNamara own McNamara/Troy, a successful South Beach plastic surgery practice. Last season, Christian was a victim of ‘The Carver,’ a serial attacker who is slashing the faces of Miami’s beautiful people. This season, Christian must face the pain of the attack as well as the truth about his past and his upbringing.
Julian most recently starred in the box-office hit Fantastic Four, which was based on the Marvel Comics franchise. As scientist Victor Von Doom, Julian played the nemesis to the heroic four, played by Michael Chiklis, Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba and Chris Evans.
In 2005, Julian was nominated for a Golden Globe® Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his nip/tuck role. Previously, he was nominated for a Golden Satellite Award as Best Actor in a Drama Series.
Julian recently completed the independent film Prisoner for writer/directors David Alford and Robert Lynne. He stars as a Hollywood film director who, while scouting an abandoned prison for his next film, is taken hostage and held captive on death row.
Previously, Julian made an impression on television audiences via his roles in the award-winning NBC drama series Profiler and as a tortured demon on The WB series Charmed.
Hailing from Australia, Julian is known to audiences there for his lead role in the prime time drama The Power, The Passion and the series Home and Away, which also starred Guy Pearce, Heath Ledger, Martin Henderson and Naomi Watts. In 1992, Julian broke into American television when he was cast as Ian Rain on the daytime drama Another World. He also co-starred in the cable movie Another Day, which was executive produced by Francis Ford Coppola and starred Shannen Doherty and Brad Renfro. Julian was also on NBC’s Will & Grace.
Additional feature film credits include In Quiet Night, Meet Market opposite Elizabeth Berkeley and Aisha Tyler, Wet and Wild Summer with Elliot Gould and Chasing Sleep with Jeff Daniels. He has also starred on stage, most notably in the Sydney and Melbourne productions of Love Letters.
Julian currently lives in Los Angeles with his daughter.
